8-Count Lindy Hop

Lindy Hop is the main swing dance style, evolving from dances of the 1920s and 1930s. It was at its most popular during the big band era, originating in Harlem, New York. This energetic, expressive dance is danced as an improvised partnership, making it extremely fun and constantly surprising to dance - in the best way possible! This class we will be teaching the 8-Count style of Lindy Hop, which is the framework of swing dance's foundational move, the swing-out! This class will build the foundations and framework for a functional swing-out, along with ways to improvise and branch out from there. You will also learn lots of other common Lindy Hop moves, so you'll be ready for anything on the social dance floor! All are welcome! $40 for students, $45 for non-students, $10 drop-in fee. 8 weeks of classes, at 90 minutes per class.

Taught by Alexandra Harland and Emily Sinclair in Room 202 St John's College.
